Door ding repair is paintless dent repair at its simplest. Here's what happens:

1. I find the ding under a PDR light. The light shows the exact shape of the dent, including the small high spot that often forms around it.
2. I get behind the panel. Doors have openings inside, so a thin steel tool can reach the back of the dent. Sometimes a window seal or trim piece comes off first, then goes back on.
3. I push the metal back, a little at a time. Lots of small, careful pushes bring the metal up. I tap down any high spots so the panel is flat.
4. I check the reflection. When the lines in the light run straight across the panel, the ding is gone.

No sanding, no filler, no new paint. Your factory paint stays on the car.

• One shot from an angle, so the dent shows in the reflection.

• The ding sits right on the edge of the door, where the metal is folded over.
• The metal is stretched from a hard hit.
• Someone already filled or painted over the dent.
